Abu Dhabi authorities gear up to decongest accommodations the city; Clampdown on unauthorized spaces and solution for affordable housing is the top priority

Authorities in Abu Dhabi are stepping up initiatives to reduce overcrowding in residential areas, with a strong focus on eliminating illegal and unsafe accommodations. This drive aims to ensure better living standards for all residents and is part of a broader effort to enhance urban planning across the emirate.

Municipal teams are actively identifying unauthorized partitions and makeshift living setups that violate housing regulations. These inspections are not only about enforcement but also about promoting safety, health, and dignity for residents—especially those living in shared or labor housing.

As part of the campaign, Abu Dhabi is also exploring sustainable and affordable housing models to meet the needs of low-income workers and residents. Officials emphasize that providing cost-effective housing options is key to preventing the spread of informal or unsafe accommodations.

Authorities urge landlords to comply with existing rules and encourage tenants to report violations. This dual strategy of regulation and affordable development is expected to improve the city’s livability while maintaining orderly growth.
