Buying an electric vehicle in the UAE just got significantly less confusing. Drive EV, a newly launched UAE-based platform, is using artificial intelligence and structured decision logic to match prospective buyers with the right EV or hybrid vehicle — a first of its kind in the region.
Drive EV is a decision platform, not a marketplace. Unlike traditional car listing sites or review portals, it focuses on understanding the buyer first, using behavioral data and guided inputs to recommend the most suitable vehicles in the UAE and connect users with the right dealers.
The timing is well-chosen. EVs accounted for just 0.7% of total car sales in the UAE in 2021. By 2023, that figure had reached 13% — a pace of change that few markets anywhere in the world have matched. The market surged 41% year-on-year in the first half of 2025, with Dubai alone recording more than 40,600 registrations.
Yet rapid growth has introduced complexity. With dozens of new brands entering the market alongside established names, consumers face an increasingly crowded and technically demanding decision. Drive EV addresses this with an “Your Ideal Vehicle” tool that guides users through eight structured questions, delivering three personalised recommendations drawn from a comprehensive UAE model database. An AI assistant handles broader queries — from battery technology to total cost of ownership.
Founder Ian Lewis said the platform was built to simplify a purchase that is “genuinely confusing for most people,” guiding buyers to the right vehicle with far less friction and connecting them with the right dealer.
At launch, Drive EV also announced a partnership with EVLife, a global EV editorial platform reaching readers in over 170 countries, combining editorial reach with qualified, data-driven lead intelligence for UAE dealers and manufacturers.
As the UAE pursues its target of 50% EV adoption by 2050, platforms like Drive EV will play an increasingly important role in converting intent into informed, confident purchase decisions.
