Dubai Silicon Oasis Gets a $3 Billion AI-Ready Data Centre — DIEZ and Volt UAE Sign Major Joint Venture

Dubai’s AI Infrastructure Just Got a Major Upgrade With the DIEZ-Volt UAE Partnership

Dubai is not just talking about becoming an AI economy. It is building the physical infrastructure to back it up.

The Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority (DIEZ) has signed a joint venture agreement with Volt UAE, the regional arm of Dutch data center and AI factory developer Volt, to develop an advanced AI-ready data center spanning up to 60,000 sq m inside Dubai Silicon Oasis—directly within the AED 11 billion District IO development.

What the Project Delivers

The facility will be developed in two phases: an initial 29 MW of readily available capacity, followed by an additional 100 MW of committed power. Under the agreement, DIEZ provides the land and core infrastructure while Volt UAE handles development, financing, construction, leasing, and operations.

Schneider Electric, headquartered in Dubai Silicon Oasis, joins as the infrastructure partner — delivering advanced electrical systems, power distribution, liquid cooling, monitoring software, and smart data centre solutions across the project.

The facility is designed with reinforced architecture, redundant systems, and hardened infrastructure to ensure continuous availability under all conditions — setting a new benchmark for mission-critical digital infrastructure in the region.

More Than a Data Centre

Han de Groot, CEO of Volt, described the facility as more than a conventional data centre. It is being positioned as a potential AI factory — a facility where energy is transformed into intelligence, supporting sovereign AI capabilities and enabling nations and organisations to develop, train, and deploy AI securely at scale.

Dr Mohammed Al Zarooni, Executive Chairman of DIEZ, said the partnership reaffirms the resilience of Dubai’s economic model and reflects the confidence of global investors in Dubai’s advanced business environment, supported by world-class digital infrastructure and agile economic policies.

Why It Matters for Dubai’s Digital Economy

This project lands at a defining moment. With Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid having just announced that 50 per cent of UAE government services will run on agentic AI within two years, the demand for sovereign, high-performance compute infrastructure is no longer theoretical. It is urgent — and this facility is a direct response to that urgency.

For investors and businesses tracking Dubai’s digital economy, the DIEZ-Volt UAE data centre is one of the clearest signals yet that the infrastructure layer of the UAE’s AI ambition is being built right now.
