Microsoft to train over 300,000 in the UAE with AI skills

A strategic leap for the UAE’s talent and technology ecosystem

Microsoft is scaling up its global skilling initiative, “Elevate”, to the UAE, while committing to equipping more than 300,000 students, educators, and government employees with AI skills.

This programme represents a major investment in the nation’s human‑capital development and its ambition to become a hub of innovation and AI capability.

What the programme involves

The “Elevate UAE” program will leverage the company’s regional efforts to skill one million people by the close of 2027.

It includes training for more than 250,000 students, staff, and faculty, as well as 55,000 government employees.

It will work with all levels in educational institutions, embedding AI literacy and hands-on application among 10,000 teachers and 150,000 students in the GEMS private schools.

On the government side, the program will provide training and certification to federal employees in collaboration with entities such as G42 and the JAHIZ platform.

The leadership development programs will focus on responsible AI adoption and digital transformation for senior public-sector executives.

Strategic impact and alignment with UAE objectives

The program aligns with national priorities in terms of investment in AI infrastructure, developing the local capability, and enabling innovation across sectors of the economy.

Why does this matter?

For youth and learners, equipping students and educators with AI skills opens up new career pathways in this rapidly growing field.

For government and public service: Training tens of thousands of federal employees means public‑sector innovation and service delivery can be significantly accelerated.

Economy: AI talent creation plays an important role in the UAE’s transition to a digital-first economy.

For Global Competitiveness: This represents the UAE’s ambition to lead at the front in AI adoption and capacity building, not only regionally but also globally.

What’s next?

Success will come from how effective the rollout of the programme is: how many participants are actually trained, how “real-world” the skills are, and ultimately how much the newly trained people apply what they learn. Organizations considering similar programmes should take note: combining education, government collaboration, and private‑sector partnership is a powerful model for scaling AI talent.
