A private investors dinner kicked off on Wednesday evening at the Ritz-Carlton, Dubai, hosted by Tablon in partnership with RG Group.
The evening included keynotes from Vijay Tirathrai, Veena Chauhan, and Philipp Peischl, as well as pitches from start-ups across the country. From liquid gold beverages to cloud SAAS workflows, the atmosphere buzzed with connections being built and visions coming together.
Veena Chauhan, CFO of RG Group, opened the panel by sharing a few words about RG’s ethos. As a family business, RG takes pride in their legacy and caring for their staff especially during the Covid-19 pandemic. “After all, staff well-being and warm working environments are crucial to the success of any organisation.”
Tirathrai, Managing Director of STS Capital Partners, shared his concerns over the rapid influxes of investment in AI technology. He claimed it was “bizarre” to see this in an industry where pinpointing a return on investment is unclear.
The absurdity of the surge in AI spending aligns with MIT’s study on AI profits which claims that less than 5% of organisations see returns despite $30-40b investments into GenAI. Despite Big Tech’s capital expenditure hitting a record high since the year 2000, the majority of organizations are yet to see any return.
The insights and discussions that arise at investors dinners prove that live networking events are fruitful.
