Ajman Police have just issued a sweeping, immediate ban on all electric scooters—whether owned or rented—from operating on any public road or street in the emirate
This move follows a warning issued just last month. Authorities had shared videos revealing riders flouting traffic laws—riding without helmets, weaving through cars, going the wrong way on one-way roads, and misusing pedestrian crossings.
Officials say the clampdown is part of a broader push to safeguard both riders and pedestrians. These unsafe riding behaviors have increasingly raised alarm over the risk of accidents and chaos on the streets.
Though the police haven’t announced exact penalties, they’ve warned that violators may face fines or even have their scooters confiscated.
The ban applies uniformly across Ajman and aligns with ongoing efforts throughout the UAE—in Abu Dhabi and Dubai—to tighten rules around micro mobility, including setting up dedicated enforcement units.
