Dubai Culture Authority Chair headlines 100+ member team focused on AI, storytelling, and global partnerships in Davos
Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum led the UAE’s delegation to the World Economic Forum 2026 in Davos, Switzerland, marking the second consecutive year she has represented the Emirates at the world’s premier economic gathering.
The 100+ member delegation—comprising ministers, government officials, and private sector leaders—ranks as the fifth-largest at the forum, signaling the UAE’s strategic commitment to shaping global economic frameworks during the January 19-23 event.
Storytelling as Leadership Strategy
Sheikha Latifa participated in a key panel titled “Stories and Strength,” examining how global narratives shape leadership in an era of fragmentation. She emphasized that credibility comes from action rather than amplification, stating that soft power at the city level must begin with purpose that genuinely serves people and society.
Drawing on the UAE’s experience hosting 195 nationalities, she noted residents from diverse backgrounds live side by side in an environment that respects them as they are, where they can speak their languages, practice their religions freely, and celebrate their cultures openly.
She highlighted culture and creativity as bridges between societies, describing curiosity as the antidote to fear in an era driven by anxiety and division. When people are curious, they listen; when they listen, understanding becomes possible.
Economic Priorities and AI Focus
Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, confirmed the delegation’s focus on future-oriented sectors, including artificial intelligence, technological innovation, digital transformation, and enhanced government-private sector collaboration.
The participation aligns with directives from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to prioritize economic development and enhance the UAE’s global competitiveness across all sectors.
Strategic Meetings and Partnerships
The UAE delegation met with Børge Brende, President and CEO of the World Economic Forum, and Larry Fink, Interim Co-Chair of the Board of Trustees. Sheikha Latifa also held bilateral meetings with Ecuador’s First Lady and other international leaders, reinforcing the UAE’s commitment to strengthening effective international partnerships.
The forum’s theme, “Spirit of Dialogue,” aligns with the UAE’s long-standing approach to international relations and social cohesion, reflected in its diverse society bringing together over 200 nationalities in mutual respect.
Beyond Economics: Humanitarian Agenda
The UAE’s participation extends beyond economic discussions to humanitarian priorities including food security, health, water resources, and climate action. This balanced approach reinforces the country’s position as a reliable international partner contributing to global resilience through cooperation.
The UAE Pavilion operated under the theme “Impossible is Impossible” for the fourth consecutive year, showcasing the national economy across energy, trade, finance, industry, and technology sectors while highlighting the country’s role in energy transition and sustainability.
