Iran’s missile and drone attacks on the UAE have dealt a significant blow to the country’s peak tourism season, but businesses across the Emirates are mounting a coordinated response with discounts, free offers, and reopenings to restore confidence.

What Is the Scale of the Damage?

More than 80,000 short-term rental bookings in Dubai were cancelled in the first week of Iranian airstrikes on the UAE. Major tourist attractions temporarily shut their doors as a precautionary measure, and international airlines suspended or reduced regional services, severely limiting visitor arrivals during what would otherwise be one of the busiest travel periods of the year.

How Are Businesses Responding?

UAE tourism businesses have launched discounts, free offers, and reopenings to lift occupancy rates and restore consumer confidence after Iran-related strikes disrupted peak-season travel. The Burj Khalifa was symbolically lit up in a show of national resilience, sending a clear message that Dubai remains open for business.

What Do the Economic Numbers Look Like?

The regional conflict is estimated to be costing the Middle East travel and tourism industry approximately €515 million per day. Analysts project inbound arrivals to the Middle East could decline between 11 and 27 per cent year-on-year in 2026, translating to between 23 and 38 million fewer international visitors and a loss in visitor spending of between $34 billion and $56 billion.

What Is the Broader Outlook?

Security professionals have characterised the movement of executives and high-net-worth individuals out of the region as temporary risk mitigation rather than long-term relocation — suggesting that confidence in the UAE’s long-term appeal remains largely intact despite the short-term disruption.
