The United Arab Emirates has been recognised as one of the world’s foremost artificial intelligence hubs in the AI Index Report 2026, published by Stanford University’s Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence (HAI) — a distinction that reinforces the country’s ambitious push to become a global leader in the technology.

Top Rankings Across Multiple Benchmarks

According to the report, the UAE ranks among the top countries in institutional support for AI strategy, awareness, and governance, with strong performance across global benchmarks in skills, jobs, adoption, and talent.

Particularly noteworthy is the pace of adoption: the UAE demonstrates high levels of AI adoption exceeding expectations relative to GDP per capita, alongside Singapore, and is consistently ranked globally in AI capabilities.

AI Deep in the Workforce

The report paints a striking picture of AI’s penetration into the UAE’s working environment. More than 80 percent of employees in the UAE regularly use AI in the workplace with high levels of trust. This is among the highest rates globally, reflecting both government-led initiatives and private sector adoption.

On the talent side, AI talent concentration in the UAE increased by more than 100 percent between 2019 and 2025, with the country ranking highly in net talent inflow at approximately 4.40 per 10,000 LinkedIn members. Furthermore, AI-related job postings accounted for around 2.87 percent of total job listings in 2025, placing the UAE among global leaders in demand for AI workforce.

Education and Research at the Forefront

AI education has become mandatory across all school levels starting from the 2025–2026 academic year, covering fundamentals such as data, algorithms, innovation, and ethics — a structural investment in the country’s long-term AI capabilities under the National AI Strategy 2031.

The report also highlighted Abu Dhabi’s Technology Innovation Institute as a leading global centre for applied AI research, particularly through its Falcon models.

The Stanford findings are yet another external validation that the UAE’s AI ambitions are translating into measurable, real-world results.
