The UAE has signed a deal with the World Economic Forum to help local factories upgrade their technology and compete globally. The partnership was announced at the World Governments Summit.
What’s Happening
The Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology will transform its Technology Transformation Programme into a national platform. This will help UAE factories modernize operations, adopt new manufacturing technologies, and better connect with global supply chains.
The Global Framework
UAE’s Industrial Technology Transformation Index will align with the World Economic Forum’s Lighthouse Operating System. This system uses best practices from over 200 advanced factories worldwide, giving UAE manufacturers a clear path to adopt automation, AI, and smart manufacturing.
Why It Matters
The partnership supports “Make it in the Emirates” by boosting factory productivity, strengthening supply chains, and attracting investment. It helps companies of all sizes—from small businesses to large manufacturers—upgrade operations.
What Factories Get
The programme provides assessment tools, implementation guidance, skills training, and knowledge sharing. Instead of small pilot projects, companies can fully integrate new technologies across operations.
Building on Progress
This builds on UAE’s Transform 4.0 initiative launched two years ago, which supports high-potential manufacturers in adopting advanced technologies. The goal is creating more industrial “Lighthouses”—factories recognized globally for technological excellence.
The partnership reinforces UAE’s ambition to become a global hub for future industries and advanced manufacturing.
