Over the weekend, Wio Bank announced the launch of the UAE’s first bank account intended specifically for creators and digital entrepreneurs. This aligns with the UAE’s agenda to support and expand the creator economy.
Wio’s strategic move was unveiled at the 1 Billion Followers Summit. Organized by the UAE Government Media Office, the annual Summit is the world’s largest event dedicated to the creator economy.
The bank’s Chief Marketing Officer, Amina Taher, explained the Visa-partnered account is entirely digital, multi-currency, and with no minimum balance requirement. The announcement of this bank account backs Wio’s efforts to advance the creator economy.
Taher’s inspiration stemmed from her interactions with creators during previous editions of the 1 Billion Summit. By hearing their concerns and difficulties with opening bank accounts, Taher felt that such a product would give creators financial independence they need.
