The UAE Is Building the World’s First AI-Native Government
The UAE government has taken a decisive step toward becoming the world’s first AI-native administration. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, announced that integrating artificial intelligence into government work is a strategic priority for the next phase of the UAE’s new government framework project.
What the New UAE Government Framework Actually Involves
The new UAE government framework targets transforming 50% of all government sectors and services within two years through the deployment of agentic AI—systems capable of autonomous task execution and independent decision-making. This goes well beyond chatbots or automation pilots. The initiative envisions government processes that run, adapt, and improve without constant human intervention.
AI That Designs Policy, Delivers Services, and Supports Decisions
Speaking after reviewing the project’s progress, Sheikh Mohammed outlined the scope of the transformation: AI now helps design programmes and policies, develop solutions, deliver services, and support decision-making — ensuring the highest quality of service around the clock. Minister of Cabinet Affairs Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi briefed the leadership on implementation progress, with the project leveraging integrated federal data and advanced digital infrastructure.
A Government Transformation Built on National AI Capability
The initiative also places strong emphasis on building national AI talent and capability. Sheikh Mohammed noted that the teams leading this transformation — and their ability to work with future technologies — are central to the UAE’s success. The project focuses on making government faster, more proactive, and more accurate through AI-driven decision-making at scale.
Why the World Should Pay Attention
As countries worldwide debate where and how to apply AI in public services, the UAE is committing to a systematic, top-down transformation at national scale. For technology companies, AI developers, and public sector innovators, this represents one of the most ambitious government AI deployments in history — and a clear signal that the UAE intends to lead the world in how modern governments are built and run.
