Etihad Rail, the UAE’s national railway operator, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Hareket, the Istanbul-based heavy lift and industrial logistics specialist, to develop integrated rail-based logistics solutions for large-scale industrial cargo across the Middle East.
The partnership focuses on integrating Hareket’s heavy lifting and project transport expertise with Etihad Rail’s established rail infrastructure, with plans to develop specialized solutions for moving oversized and heavy industrial equipment via railway systems.
Who Is Hareket?
Founded in Istanbul in 1957, Hareket specializes in heavy lifting, oversized cargo transport, crane operations, and engineered logistics for large industrial and energy projects. The company operates internationally across Eurasia, the Middle East, Africa, and the Caspian region, and is publicly listed on Borsa Istanbul, reporting revenues of ₺3.52 billion ($107 million) in 2024.
The company already has a foothold in the UAE — having provided logistics support for the Ramhan Island Bridge project in Abu Dhabi — and has since expanded its regional presence through branch offices in Dubai and Oman.

The collaboration is expected to strengthen railway-based logistics networks in the region, enabling more efficient transport of industrial equipment and project cargo — sectors where rail holds a clear advantage over road transport in terms of capacity and cost.
