Jebel Ali Port Achieves Record Breakbulk Cargo Milestone

Jebel Ali Port Achieves Record Breakbulk Cargo Milestone

DP World Facility Handles 630,000 Tonnes in October 2025

Jebel Ali Port, operated by DP World, has set a new benchmark by handling 630,000 tonnes of breakbulk cargo in October 2025, marking the highest monthly total in nearly two decades. This achievement demonstrates the port’s critical role in supporting the UAE’s expanding infrastructure and industrial sectors.

Driving Forces Behind the Record

The surge in breakbulk volumes reflects increased regional construction and industrial activity. Major UAE infrastructure projects have significantly contributed to this growth, including the Dubai Metro Blue Line extension and the expansion of Dubai World Central (DWC) airport.

Iron and steel imports for these large-scale developments, combined with rising sugar exports, have been primary drivers of the record-breaking performance. This milestone builds on strong momentum from 2024, when breakbulk volumes increased by 23 percent year-on-year, reaching 5.36 million metric tonnes.

Industry Confidence and Reliability

Shahab Al Jassmi, Chief Commercial Officer for Ports and Terminals at DP World GCC, highlighted the significance of this achievement. He emphasized that the milestone reflects the confidence businesses have in Jebel Ali as the region’s most dependable cargo gateway.

The port’s ability to meet growing infrastructure demands while maintaining efficient and resilient supply chains positions it as a key player in regional trade. DP World remains committed to expanding capacity, implementing advanced technology, and advancing sustainability initiatives to support long-term growth.

Supporting the UAE’s Economic Vision

Breakbulk cargo, which includes heavy materials and oversized items essential for large-scale construction and industrial projects, represents a vital component of Jebel Ali’s operations. The port’s integrated ecosystem, supported by Jafza, ensures seamless movement of complex cargo across regional and global supply chains.

Jebel Ali Port plays a central role in the UAE’s economic transformation, directly supporting Dubai’s Economic Agenda D33 and the national Operation 300Bn strategy. These initiatives focus on expanding construction, manufacturing, and infrastructure sectors as key pillars of economic development.

A Multipurpose Port for the Future

The latest achievement reflects Jebel Ali’s ongoing transformation into one of the world’s most advanced multipurpose ports, consistently delivering record performance across containers, RoRo, and bulk cargo categories.
