When the pressure rises, the Gulf’s two most powerful nations close ranks — and their message to the world is unmistakable.
UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan received a phone call from Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman to discuss recent regional developments, including Iranian attacks targeting the UAE and some other countries.
The call was more than diplomatic protocol; it was a clear signal of where the Arabian Gulf’s two anchor states stand in one of the region’s most volatile moments in recent memory.
Saudi Arabia’s message: We stand with you
The Saudi Crown Prince expressed the Kingdom’s full condemnation of the attacks and affirmed its complete solidarity with the UAE, underscoring Saudi Arabia’s readiness to provide all possible support in response to any measures taken by Abu Dhabi. Sheikh Mohamed, in turn, expressed deep appreciation for Saudi Arabia’s firm and fraternal stance.
A shared red line
The two leaders were equally direct on the broader threat. Both sides stressed the need for an immediate cessation of military escalation, warning that it poses a serious threat to regional and global stability, and underscored the importance of prioritising substantive dialogue and diplomatic means to preserve regional security and peace.
They also addressed what they described as continued Iranian attacks targeting regional countries, noting that such actions violate the sovereignty of states and international norms.
Why this matters
The UAE–Saudi relationship is the cornerstone of Gulf security architecture. When both nations speak in one voice, condemning aggression, pledging mutual support, and calling for diplomacy, the region listens. In times of crisis, that unity is not just reassuring. It is essential.
