Over the past nine days alone, Etihad Rail Freight has operated more than 100 freight train trips, transporting over 459,000 tonnes of cargo and more than 7,900 containers across the network, all while maintaining full connectivity between key industrial zones, ports, and logistics hubs.
New Rail Corridors Activated to Strengthen Resilience
To further strengthen network resilience, additional rail corridors have been activated, with intermodal capacity redeployed to East Coast ports. The Al Ghail Dry Port Rail Terminal has also been supported with five additional train services.

Omar Al Subaey, CEO of Etihad Rail Freight, said the UAE National Rail Network was designed to enhance the resilience and reliability of the country’s logistics and supply chains, adding that teams remain in constant coordination with relevant national authorities to ensure continuity of freight services that support the UAE economy.
Why It Matters
One fully laden freight train trip can replace approximately 300 trucks on the road, resulting in around 70–80% less CO₂ emissions than trucks moving the same tonnage, making Etihad Rail not just a logistical lifeline, but a strategic national asset.
