Dubai’s private sector is showing what community solidarity looks like in practice, with companies across industries rolling out rent relief, cash allowances, marketing support, and free retail space to help small and medium-sized businesses stay afloat during the Iran conflict.
Businesses are navigating a difficult operating environment marked by rising oil prices, a slowdown in tourism flows, supply chain disruptions, and softer consumer demand. Companies across sectors — from real estate and telecoms to retail and consulting — are rolling out targeted support measures to help SMEs maintain cash flow, visibility, and operational continuity.
One of the most significant moves came from Majid Al Futtaim, which launched the Ma’an programme in partnership with Dubai SME. Meaning “together” in Arabic, Ma’an is designed to give promising UAE-based small and medium-sized businesses a direct pathway to one of the region’s most powerful consumer ecosystems — from Mall of the Emirates and THAT Concept Store to VOX Cinemas, Carrefour and other Majid Al Futtaim destinations. Participating brands also gain exposure to more than 10 million SHARE loyalty members and Majid Al Futtaim’s full marketing infrastructure.
Creative hub Alserkal Avenue introduced “Blank Space”, offering up to three UAE-based collectives free warehouse space for four weeks, including utilities and marketing support. Advisory firm Consilium is providing free regulatory risk assessments for companies in fintech, AI, and digital platforms. Uber UAE matched in-app tips to boost driver earnings and encouraged customers to visit local businesses.
Marketing support has emerged as a critical gap. Marevak Consulting is offering free webinars, strategic counsel, and SME mentorship, while The Comms Club launched complimentary PR advisory sessions for hospitality and lifestyle businesses.
The wave of private-sector initiative builds on Dubai’s AED 1 billion government stimulus package, creating a two-pronged support ecosystem — public relief plus community-driven action — that reflects the UAE’s instinct to treat challenge as a moment for collective forward movement rather than individual retreat.
