The UAE Space Agency concluded a prominent showing at the 41st Space Symposium in Colorado Springs this week, using the global platform to advance key partnerships and reinforce its vision of becoming one of the world’s top ten space economies by 2031.
High-Level Engagement on the World Stage
The delegation, led by Dr Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of Sports and Chairman of the UAE Space Agency, held bilateral meetings with NASA, the Korea AeroSpace Administration, and France’s national space studies centre. Discussions ranged across lunar and Martian exploration, the continued activation of the Artemis Accords, and the growing role of the private sector in driving technological breakthroughs. The UAE also participated in high-level panel discussions alongside representatives from Germany and Peru, emphasising the importance of moving from traditional cooperation towards long-term strategic alliances.
The Hope Probe and Beyond
A centrepiece of the UAE’s presence was the Hope Probe — now extended through 2028 following its operational success — which has delivered over 10 terabytes of open-access scientific data to more than 200 research institutions worldwide. Progress on the Emirates Mission to the Asteroid Belt was also shared, alongside initiatives designed to stimulate the national space economy and attract private investment.
A $44 Billion Bet on the Future
With approximately AED 44 billion invested in its space sector and the National Space Strategy 2031 now formally adopted, the UAE is building with intent. The strategy sets clear targets: doubling space economy revenues, growing the number of national companies and export markets, and developing competitive infrastructure that positions the UAE as a global hub for space commerce, talent, and responsible governance in an increasingly crowded and competitive orbital environment.
